Funding is certainly a factor but hours that a daycare is open and the quality of daycare are also important issues. Interview daycares early and get on waitlists ASAP.
We had a nanny (nursing student neighbor) who rolled out of bed each morning between 5:30 and 6:00am and came over to sleep in our guest bedroom and take care of our baby girl until she woke up and was ready to go to daycare.
My mom also lived with us for a couple of months until baby girl was old enough for (and off the waitlist) for daycare.
Any other child-care pointers?
